It is true, I have seen this site a few times, but after seeing no posts on the majority of the topics, left without posting, until I read Jim's post.

I have now registered and posted and hope that other OU students do the same to keep this site going!

A bit about me, I am 33, married with two lovely children. I was trained and worked as a Nursery Nurse in Social Services until it was decided that it would be closed down (the day I had my 1st child!!), I have been a Childminder, Home Carer for the elderly (during which I trained as a Hospital Play Specialist), Child Contact Worker and am currently working as a Support Worker in a residential home for adults with learning difficulties. I have just been promoted to a senior. I would love to be a Social Worker, but always felt I needed more experience in the different care settings first (I think I have now!!). Following a recent application as a trainee social worker, for which I didnt get through, I had feedback which suggested I do the K100 in health and social care to top up my qualifications. I am looking forward to studying again to reach my goal and the OU programme is brilliant in that you can study from home without the costly nursery fees. If anyone has any suggestions or ides about the K100, then I will see you in the K100 forum!!

Sorry for the rambling!

Welcome Shampers,

and thanks for joining.

I think it is going to take quite a while for OU students to recognise the usefulness of a site like this, but the membership is slowly growing (very slowly) Laughing and will eventually reach a decent level. We receive hundreds of visits per week so the site is being found by students, they just need to join Evil or Very Mad

Thanks for your reply, its true, there is a lot of people viewing, but because they get put off by the lack of posts they go-I know because i did at first!! Hopefully people will see the posts that are here and it will go from there. It would be nice to talk to people doing the same course as me or other mature students.

Best of luck!
