Hiya. I'm new to OU and am still finding my feet about the place. I am a single mum of two aged 18 and 14 and it is whilst I have been taking my oldest to University Open Days that my desire to study for myself has set in. I'm due to start an Openings course in June and right now I'm chomping at the bit to get started but I have another month yet before my study books etc. arrive. Besides getting something constructive out of my spare time I'd like to think I'll make some good friends here. Feel free to email me Very Happy

Hope this gets posted ok lol

Hi Witzendmomma,

Welcome to OUforum.com and thanks for taking the time to introduce yourself. This forum has been online for over a year but it's only now folks are starting to register and post. Feel free to tell your fellow students on your course about OUforum.com
This will become an invaluable resource site for all OU students (and possibly tutors too ) Mr. Green

Hi Jim
Many thanks for your warm welcome. I actually got the link for this through some messages I read on a forum on the main OU website and just followed it through. I know a couple of others have registered so far. I'm hoping that the OU will open up many more opportunities for me which I can maximise on once my two children have finished their schooling. I never stayed on at school to do A-levels but having done an NVQ4 in Business and Administration I guess I have been spurred on by the fact that I may be able to transfer some points towards a degree. I'm not sure what I will be studying and will probably do something I feel an interest towards rather than something I feel will

. Right now I'm considering either Geosciences or Natural Sciences so if anyone can give any guidance it would be welcome.
